An innovative project

The 3 floating wind turbines of the Provence Grand Large project are located 17 km off the coast, benefiting from strong and stable winds. Each of them has a 8,4 MW output. They are installed on “tensioned anchor line” floats designed, developed and installed by SBM Offshore and IFP Energies Nouvelles. This technological innovation allows to install wind turbines at great depths, inaccessible to conventional fondations resting on the seabed. It is inspired by the technologies used to stabilize oil platforms.

The electricity is transported to the national electricity grid by using an innovative set of dynamic cables, able to monitor the movement of wind turbines.
