A world class innovation

An innovative technology

Each wind turbine is installed on float with “tensioned anchor lines” moored offshore at a depth of more than 100 meters.

A world class innovation inspired by the technologies used to stabilise oil rigs. This adaptation is a world first for offshore wind power!

This system guarantee great stability, and the suction anchor limits disturbance of the seabed.

Swell-resistant floats

Each floats is 45 meter high and 80 meter wide. They were designed, developed, and assembled at the Eiffage Metal site in the port of de Marseille-Fos. They are largely submerged, offering greater resistance to swell.

The electricity is transported by a set of dynamic underwater cables, able to track the movements of the float, the swell, and marine currents.

Did you know? The three wind turbines are spaced 900 meters apart to ensure the passage of most ships. The platform can accommodate maintenance technicians.

Why installed floating wind turbines ?

This innovative solution has a great technical potential. It can be developed in areas of great depth. This solution allows to work around constraints of conventional wind turbines – which are installed on the seabed – and have to be located in areas where the depth does not exceed 50 to 60 meters. It also has a strong environmental advantage, thanks to its small footprint on the seabed.
